Review: G-Town Madness & The Viper – Come As One (Brennan Heart Remix) (Gabber Hardcore)

By Drew Wilson

In this review, we cover the gabber hardcore track G-Town Madness & The Viper – Come As One (Brennan Heart Remix) (Gabber Hardcore)

This particular remix was released in 2010 along with the track Brennan Heart – Feel U Here (G-Town Madness & The Viper Remix).

This track is a remix of the original 2007 project hardcore anthem which was made famous by the vocals found in the track. This remix features the same vocals.

What immediately jumps out for me in this track is the vocals. The vocals pretty much screams bravery, strength in numbers, unbreakable, and overcoming all obstacles. This element alone gives this track a very epic feel to it. The choir backing in this track manages to enhance this epic feel to this track as the vocals are sung out.

What this remix adds to this track was the effects added to some of the smaller vocal samples. They were basically an interesting mix of granularization, a peek effect, a phaser effect, and bit crushing effects (in that order when you first hear it).

Another thing this remix brings to the table is the removal of very common elements found in hardcore and replacing them with more hardstyle effects (namely the bassdrum). I thought that this gave this remix a very different flavor compared to the original.

For me, the shorter samples were nice, but I kind of wished there were more to the vocals in the main portion of the track. The vocals only delivered a limited number of lines before fading into the background. They were so epic and I wished that there was more of it in this track. The effects, the hardstyle elements, and the overall melody worked quite well, but the highlight of the track, for me, was the main chorus which was much too short.

This is not to say the track was bad in any way. Far from it. I liked the track quite a lot and have listened to it numerous times because I really like it. I just felt that there could have been more lyrics added to the track. Still, I thought that this was a pretty good track all around.

Score

7.5/10
