YourEraGamer Celebrates 5 Year Birthday!

YourEraGamer, is now 5 years old! We talk about the long journey that got us here and what’s ahead for the channel.

Freezenet is a big operation – especially for a one person operated, well, operation. One of our many projects is the increasingly successful YouTube channel, YourEraGamer. Officially, the channel was launched on July 30, 2019. After getting some work done on the channel, we formally announced the launching here on Freezenet.

The channel initially started as just “Freezenet”. After all, it made sense to have the Freezenet channel be called “Freezenet”. Sometime after that, though, we ended up doing a re-branding to better reflect the offerings we had on YouTube (and the channel has a LOT of offerings to say the least!). The channel, itself, throughout the years, did end up growing. In 2022, not only did it reach the milestone of 500 views, but also 1,000 views. In 2023, it reached 2,500 views. That growth has only continues. As of now, it has over 14,000 views and is inching closer to the 15,000 view milestone.

The first year for the channel, generally speaking, contained a rather slow upload schedule. In all, it was basically me uploading on a monthly basis with only one month missed (was the result of some math I was working on). This was just Steam games. The thing is, that monthly schedule would then become permanent with every month containing a video of a Steam game in 2020. From that point on, it became about yearly improvements.

In 2021, we doubled our output schedule to two games per month. While we were playing Steam games, we were also saving up for not only a Playstation 3, but a library of Playstation 3 games. That paved the way for the two video’s per month. Of course, while we were showcasing the Playstation 3 as well, we were cooking up something else behind the scenes.

The work from behind the scenes ultimately paid off. In 2022, we doubled the video schedule again to the current rate of 4 video’s per month. At the time, we were uploading video’s on two Steam games, a Playstation 3 game, and the newly debuted console, the XBox 360. Again, lots of behind the scenes work ultimately payed off and we were able to improve the uploads moving forward by diversifying what we were able to show off to you. Once again, while I was showcasing the XBox 360 that year, I was, once again, working hard behind the scenes at finding ways of improving the channel.

Once again, that hard work paid off. In 2023, the schedule got revamped again. Steam game videos were dropped to one per month. The Playstation 3 video’s would continue to get uploaded on a monthly basis. What’s more, the XBox 360 video’s were getting uploaded on a monthly basis as well. However, we swapped out the second Steam slot schedule with a newer console. 2023 saw us debuting the Playstation 4 and it’s game library. Much like every other year, though, we were cooking up something behind the scenes again.

In 2024, that hard work paid off. We kept the Steam, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4 games, but temporarily dropped the XBox 360 games. This was to pave the way for XBox One titles. That is where the release schedule sits today. Newer games and a sprinkle of older titles. Of course, you should also note the familiar pattern that while what we are showcasing is, indeed, impressive, we are working on behind the scenes stuff to try and bring you even better content.

I won’t spoil it for you here (though Patrons of the Freezenet Patreon are getting a much better look at these behind the scenes efforts), but I am looking forward to showcasing what I have been working on behind the scenes. It does involve a console that is newer than anything that has been showcased on the channel. I know some people want me to get to newer titles and I am, indeed, listening to those comments. I think you’ll be very happy with what will happen next year, either way. I know I am excited for this as well.

What I also will say is that working on the library hasn’t exactly been the easiest thing in the world. It’s definitely the most expensive library yet (not to mention the most expensive console yet). Either way, I’m really excited to see how well this one performs on the channel and also really excited to see how you react to the great content that is forthcoming still.

At any rate, it has been quite the journey to get to this point on the YouTube channel. While the previous years have been exciting, I think the next few years are going to be even more exciting. Can’t wait to showcase to you what I’ve been working on all this time!
