This review covers the hard rock track Living Colour – Leave it Alone.
This track was released in 1993 on the album Stain.
The track starts with a talking voice sample. The lead guitars then come in along with a drum kit. Shortly after, the main vocals come in for the first verse.
From there, the vocals then take the track into the first round of the main chorus with a subtle backup vocal making an appearance.
After a brief instrumental section, the vocals then take the track into the next verse. From there, the vocals take the track into the main chorus again. The vocals then extend the main chorus.
From there, the vocals continue on with the next verse. After that, the vocals then go into another round of the main chorus. This section is capped off with a guitar solo.
In the next section, the vocals then take the track into a modified main chorus. After that, the guitars then lead the track out.
For me, the vocals are decent enough. They do go to the line of being hard to understand, but they never cross it. So, that’s pretty good.
The guitars during the vocal sections are pretty good. The solo’s, however, are a bit weak for me.
My problem with the track is that the transitions are sometimes missing. As a result, sections just bleed from one part to another at times. This makes the track a bit difficult to follow.
Overall, this track has its strengths and weaknesses. The guitars when they back the vocals actually sound pretty good. Unfortunately, the solo’s aren’t as strong as they could have been. The vocals are decent enough. Unfortunately, the transitions were a bit all over the map which makes this track a bit more difficult to keep up with. A decent one all around, but nothing huge.
