This review covers the alternative rock track Angelfish – Suffocate Me.
This track was released in 1994 on a self-titled album.
The track starts with a drum kit, bass guitar and a lead guitar. The vocals then come in with a main chorus. This is capped off with an instrumental.
After that, the vocals then come in for a modified main chorus. Again, this is capped off with an instrumental.
From there, the vocals then go into a verse. The guitars change things a bit towards the end of the verse. After that, there is another instrumental section.
In the next section, the vocals then come in for another verse. After that, the vocals then go into another round of the main chorus which is more generic than the previous iterations. The vocals are accompanied by some backup vocals. From there, the guitars then lead the track out.
This is another track with a rather unusual lyrical structure. It’s basically two versions of the main chorus, two verses, and another version of the main chorus. While the main chorus has various elements in common, no two iterations of the main chorus are exactly alike. In this case, it works reasonably well. It’s by no means the most amazing thing I’ve heard, but it’s actually not bad either.
Another thing that is unusual about this track is the lyrics. One way of describing some of the lyrics is basically killing with kindness, but in a rather dark and twisted way. It sounds like a weird description, but that’s the best way I can describe it. It’s not bad, just, different from my perspective.
Meanwhile, the guitars are decent enough. There is some variety, though they can seem a bit on the monotonous side of things at times.
Overall, this is a decent enough track. It has an unusual lyric structure and theme going for it. Still, the guitars are OK. So, a decent track, but nothing huge.
