This review covers the rock track Seven Mary Three – Cumbersome.
This track was released in 1995 on the album American Standard.
The track starts with some guitars. The lead guitars and drum kit then come in. From there, the vocals join the track for the verse very shortly after.
After a short verse, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. From there, the vocals take the track into another verse of moderate length. The vocals then take the track into the main chorus again. The vocals then continue into a section which alters the main chorus. There is a mix of vocals and instrumental after.
The track then drops out a fair bit with the lead guitars dropping out. The vocals then rejoin the track. From there, the altered version of the main chorus is repeated. There is a quasi instrumental section after that. From there, the vocals and lead guitars lead the track out.
One thing I do like about the track is the main chorus. The guitars and vocals do come together and form something that sounds pretty good. Totally amazing? Not so much, but it does sound pretty good.
The use of the altered main chorus does make things a bit more interesting for the lyrical structure. Quite frankly, in this case, I don’t have a problem with it. It adds some variety to the overall listening experience.
The lyrics to explore a feeling of gradual rejection. So, this can allow people to connect to this on a personal level to some degree.
Overall, this is a pretty decent track. It has an interesting lyrical structure with the use of the altered main chorus. The vocals are decent enough and the lyrics explore some pretty decent themes. So, an overall decent track.
