This review covers the dance track Kim Lukas – All I Really Want (Eiffel 65 Single Remix).
This track was released in 1999 on a single.
The track starts with some filtered white noise and a piano. From there, the vocals come in early on. The piano then drops out as the vocals take the track into the main chorus. This is backed by the bassline and drum kit. A synth effect then comes in.
The vocals then repeat the main chorus, but the backing is more full with synth string and piano. The filtering is also dropped.
From there, the vocals go into the main chorus with just the drum kit and bassline backing them. After that, the vocals take the track into the main chorus again. This is capped off with the track pulling back and filtered vocals returning. The filtering is different from what is in the intro.
After that, the vocals take the track into the next verse. The track drops out, leaving just the bassline backing the vocals. A snare and clap rejoin the track. The rest of the drum kit comes in after that. The vocals then take the track back into the main chorus again with the backing elements largely filled out. What isn’t returning makes a return on the repeat.
The vocals repeat the main chorus, but the backing elements gradually drop out. After that, the vocals lead the track out.
For me, the biggest strength of this track is the variety throughout. Probably the only thing that really repeats is a part of the main chorus. For everything else, either you are in a verse or the backing elements are very different. Because of this, the track is very enjoyable from beginning to end.
This, of course, is followed very closely by the vocals as the next big strength. Whether they are performing more solo style or layered with backing vocals, they work extremely well for this track.
Another strength is the lyrics. Combined with how the lyrics are backed, these lyrics are very nicely emphasized. They are also nicely filled out with a nice set of verses. As such, the track does feel very complete.
Overall, there’s really nothing I can find in this track to complain about. It has a very nice upbeat mood throughout. The vocals and the variety are both big strengths in this track. the way the lyrics are emphasized with the backing elements also work very well. So, I’m calling this a great track all around.
