This review covers the punk rock track Bad Religion – Hear It.
This track was released in 1998 on the album No Substance. The track also made an appearance in the Sega Dreamcast game Crazy Taxi.
The track starts with a drum kit emphasizing the snare. After that, the guitars come in. Shortly after that, the vocals come in with an increased perceived pace.
From there, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. This is capped off with a guitar solo.
After that, the vocals return for a verse. The vocals lead the track into the main chorus. Backup vocals then cap the section off in a non-lyrical manner. A quasi guitar solo also makes an appearance.
What follows is the vocals taking the track into the next verse. Shortly after that, the main vocals lead the track into the main chorus one last time. The vocals also lead the track out at this point.
For me, the guitars do a great job at setting this track up. They really don’t slow down after the intro either. The solo and the way they back the vocals work great.
Additionally, the vocals sound very nicely done. A few lyrics might be slightly garbled, but they sound very good all around in my view.
My only problem with this track is the length. With the quality, you don’t realize this track doesn’t even make it to two minutes in length. Still, it does undercut it’s ability to be memorable. Throw it in any mix and it’ll sound great for a moment before you are quickly whisked away to another track.
Still, this is an enjoyable track to listen to. The guitars sound great and the vocals are nicely done. The length does make this track a bit less memorable, but it’s still definitely worth listening to. A very solid track all around.
