This review covers the alternative rock track Eagle-Eye Cherry – Save Tonight.
This track was released in 1998 on the album Desireless.
The track starts off with some guitars. A drum kit then joins the track with subtle vocal elements. After that, the main vocals join the track for the first verse.
After a subtle drum roll, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. Right after that, the vocals immediately take the track into the next verse. After that, the vocals take the track back into the main chorus. This is capped off with a guitar solo.
From there, the guitars pull back and the vocals rejoin the track for the next verse. This is short because the vocals quickly bring the track into the main chorus after. The main chorus repeats as an additional guitar enters the track over top. Those vocals extend the main chorus as the track gradually shifts back into the guitar solo. The vocals then being repeating the main chorus again as the track simply fades out.
For me, the guitar solo is not bad. It really breaks up the track nicely and adds a somewhat fresh sound to the overall listening experience.
The vocals are OK. The mastering on this one allows the vocals to be understandable.
My only real gripe is that this track could have beefed up the verses a bit more. There is a bit of an over-reliance on the main chorus to carry this track through in my view.
Overall, this winds up being an OK track. It’s nothing huge, but it’s by no means terrible either. The vocals are OK and the mastering is decent enough. The guitar solo does add some nice variety to the track. So, an OK one, but nothing huge.
