Review: Ferry Tayle Feat. Poppy – The Way Back Home (Craig Connelly Extended Remix) (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Ferry Tayle Feat. Poppy – The Way Back Home (Craig Connelly Extended Remix).

This track was released in 2019 along with the shorter remix.

The track starts with a drum kit. A sweep gradually fades in to the track before gradually fading out. A bassline joins the track. The main synth melody then joins during a kick drill. The melody then drops out, replaced by a filtered synth. A chopped vocal then joins the track. The main synth melody then rejoins the track. A reverse cymbal makes an appearance and the drum kit drops out.

A snare roll then makes an appearance before the vocals take the track into the first verse. This is backed by the drum kit and bassline. Synth pads join the track with a sidechain effect. A sweep and a kick drill then makes a brief appearance. The vocal gradually fades out on a note.

The drop then hits, leaving just the pads and even a subtle water sample. After that, the vocal then goes through the main chorus, backed by the rain sample and pads. A delay effect is applied on the vocals towards the end. The pads fade in more and the main synth melody re-joins the track. The kick then continues as the main synth melody continues. A kick drill makes an appearance as the main synth melody continues with a piano element.

A kick drill makes another appearance as the vocal repeats a line or two. The delay effect returns as the vocal fades out. The synth melody layered with the piano continues. A chopped vocal effect then joins the track. A series of cymbal crashes make an appearance as the vocals then repeat the main chorus. Everything is largely layered with each other at this point. The main synth melody gradually starts to fade out.

A reverse cymbal makes an appearance as the vocals then gradually drop out with a long delay effect. Synth effects and the drum kit continue. After a sweep, a number of synth effects drop out, leaving mostly just the drum kit. A reverse cymbal then leads the track out.

There is a lot of positive things to say about this track. First, the vocals is excellent. They work incredibly well and give this track such an uplifting and emotional element to it. Then, the main synth melody compounds the quality to really round things out. Additionally, the way it builds up and all the layered effects work incredibly well. There is a lot of small details that really help make this track one you can really appreciate.

Overall, this is a great track. The vocals are excellent and the main synth melody really rounds things out. The other synth effects really help add that extra bit of quality as well. Really can’t think of anything that is wrong in this one. Certainly great and recommended track.
