This review covers the pop track Bleachers – I Wanna Get Better.
This particular track was released in 2014 under the album Strange Desire. It’s labelled as indie pop, but I don’t know how “indie” music can be if it’s released under a label owned by Sony. As a result, I’m just calling this pop music.
The overall mood of this track is someone struggling and trying to improve themselves (hence the track name). The vocals seems to be mostly filtered to sound like it was sung through a mega phone. This is backed by piano keys and some rock elements.
Personally, I’m not too sure about this track even being memorable, let alone being anything good. There is a strong chorus, but I don’t know if it’s enough to really elevate this song – especially with what else is in this track. It throws a lot of different elements at you (such as solo elements, chopped notes, etc.), but having heard that, I don’t think any of it really sticks for me. The only thing that really stuck was the chorus. Even then, I didn’t find it all that exciting. It had that par for the course feel to it.
In the end, this track felt weak to me. There was hardly anything memorable about it and, although it tries to be a better track, it just never delivers. It’s good for a listen or two, but beyond that, I find myself just leaving it behind.
