Welcome to the 144th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Steam game, Fallout: New Vegas for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:
I know I said it in the video, but I’ll say it here as well. Thank you so much for the positive response from the last Fallout game. I know when I went into Fallout 3, I didn’t plan on it being me pointing out that the game is busted, but that’s just the way things work out sometimes. In case you are wondering, I was unable to get a refund because I bought the game clear back in 2019. Ah well, I did everything I could in the situation.
Now, since I was unable to get Fallout 3 working, I had actively wondered if the same could be said for Fallout: New Vegas. The good news is that this game actually works. In fact, I had no problem installing and booting it. So, good news on that front, right?
I tried recording the first 10 minutes of play, but that involved a bunch of fiddling with stats and figuring out what kind of perks I like from the beginning. By the time I got through all of it, the 10 minutes were up. I concluded that this would’ve been a boring video, so I basically finished the last little bit after recording, exited the door, and got to recording again. That video is what you see above. So, this is basically shortly after you get through most of the character creation process.
Definitely have to say that it was interesting finally playing this. I wasn’t sure how heavily this game would lean in to RPG elements, but it definitely has a lot of elements that feel like RPG games like The Elder Scrolls game. So, I’m definitely interested to see how this plays out over the long term for this game.
What did you think of this game? Was this a great experience in your view or was this not necessarily a game that suits your play style?
For those who haven’t played this game, but have played other games in the franchise, does this look like a nice familiar game that you could get into right away or have you already had your fill of the franchise by now?
Also, for those who haven’t played this franchise at all, what did you think? Does it look like a game you’d be interested in playing or do you think RPG like elements in a shooter game isn’t your style? Let us know in the comments below!
