Welcome to the 168th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the XBox One game, Forza Motorsport 5 for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:
After detouring through the Horizon part of the Forza franchise, we are back to working our way through the Forza Motorsport franchise. Today, we are checking out Forza Motorsport 5. This game was the main franchises debut for the XBox One. For some, this was apparently a disappointment due to less content. Nevertheless, I decided to give this game a try and decide for myself whether or not the criticisms were warranted.
What is clear with this game is that this game had a much more frequent release schedule than it’s Sony rival, Gran Turismo. Despite this franchise starting much later than Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport was only one entry behind Gran Turismo when this game was released. Still, Forza retains its difficulty settings and style that sets it apart from the Gran Turismo franchise.
Having actually gotten further into this game after the video was recorded, I couldn’t help but notice, however, that the 6 tile system of selecting career races bears a slight resemblance to the earlier Gran Turismo games. It’s very much different from previous Forza Motorsport entries that had a very different structure. Maybe the tile based menu system is in reference to Windows 8? I don’t know. What I do know is that some fans of the franchise wasn’t necessarily a big fan of this change.
Either way, I’m definitely looking forward to what this entry has in store for me.
So, what did you think of this game? Was this a great or, perhaps, underrated entry into the Forza Motorsport franchise or did you think that this game left you disappointed?
For those who haven’t played this game, but played other games in the franchise, what did you think of what you saw in this video? Does this look like a game you’d be interested in playing or do you think other games in the franchise have plenty to offer as it is?
For those who haven’t played any of the Forza Motorsport games at all, what did you think when you saw the footage here? Does this look like a game you might be interested in playing or are you still not really sure a sim racing game is particularly exciting to you? Let us know in the comments below!
