I got the nomination for the early access review for the month of October. This month, Patron’s selected Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. Interestingly enough, I have an interesting story behind this.

Way back when the N64 was nearing the end of its life span, this is a game I was reading about, being part of the next console generation on what was then known as “Project Dolphin”. It had a lot of interesting ideas in theory, so I figured if I got my hands on a physical GameCube, I’d probably give this game a spin at some point.

Well, I never really got to get my hands on a GameCube then. Instead, life was getting busy for me. I was gearing up for University studies and I was simply unable to afford a GameCube. What’s more, I didn’t have enough time. With all the studying for classes, I was simply unable to find the time to really get back into games. In the Summer, I had gotten a day job, so even Summer was more or less off limits to getting the GameCube. Ultimately, I had given up on keeping up with gaming at that point because life was just too busy and gaming was just too expensive for me.

Many years later, however, I had finally gotten the chance to play those GameCube games. One of the games I intended on playing was this game. I finally got a chance to play it. While the concepts I had read about were definitely in there, the rest of the game wound up being disappointing to me. As a result, the sanity system wound up being little more than a novelty concept to me – however interesting it was. Still, I finally got a chance to play the game and even got to write a review for it. So, enjoy the review!
