Donald Trump is escalating his war on judges that dare defy his will and commit the crime of ruling against him.
Psychotic maniac, Donald Trump, is continuing to try and consolidate power so that his will rules all no matter what. This in Trump’s efforts to implement a fascist dictatorship where anyone defying his interests will face the full force of the law that he declares is law.
The push to implement his reign of tyranny has been pushed from the very beginning of his tenure. Among those who have been targeted by the regime include journalists, non-profit organizations who are fighting climate change, and anyone who dares criticize him online. This as he stabs other countries in the back by waging completely unnecessary trade wars with allies.
More recently, Trump renewed his call to crackdown on political opponents. This was followed up by action including a crackdown on law firms who represent Trump’s legal opponents.
Then, as if to punctuate the fact that America is seemingly in a constitutional crisis, Trump also threatened a judge with impeachment for the crime of ruling against him. This as Trump continues to defy court orders.
This set up a very public feud between Trump and Supreme Court Justice, John Roberts. Justice Roberts, of course, is a Republican appointee who was appointed by George W. Bush. Roberts, as some know, wrote the majority opinion saying that Trump is basically above the law and that an official act is immune from criminal prosecution. This paved the way for Trump to do whatever he wants is basically above the law as long as he declares his actions as an “official act”. The ruling was hugely controversial for a whole variety of obvious reasons. Roberts disagreed with Trump’s calls to impeach any judge that dares to rule against him in any way.
Today, we are learning that Trump has basically hit back against Justice Roberts by ordering that all judges who dare to rule against him should be removed from the bench, calling them “Radical”. From USA Today:
President Donald Trump demanded that Chief Justice John Roberts and the U.S. Supreme Court rein in federal judges who have issued injunctions around the country that have impeded an array of his policies.
“It is our goal to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and such a high aspiration can never be done if Radical and Highly Partisan Judges are allowed to stand in the way of JUSTICE. STOP NATIONWIDE INJUNCTIONS NOW, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. If Justice Roberts and the United States Supreme Court do not fix this toxic and unprecedented situation IMMEDIATELY, our Country is in very serious trouble!” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Thursday.
The post resumes a clash between the leaders of two of America’s three branches of government amid escalating attacks by Republicans on federal judges who have determined Trump’s sweeping actions in the first two months of his term were unconstitutional.
Obviously, Trump believes that judges are put in place to serve his personal interests. As such, any judge who doesn’t rule in his favour is acting out of line and must be removed from the bench “IMMEDIATELY”. This as Trump continues his quest to install himself as dictator for life.
For some American’s, the worry is that if Roberts is removed or resigns, things are going to hit the fan. It’s unclear if that would actually be the tipping point, but it’s understandable if someone thinks that way. Still, it’s quite a thought that what might be standing in the way of a far right takeover of America is a George W. Bush appointee and Trump enabler of all things. It’s pure insanity.
