This review covers the synth pop track State of the Union – Afterlife.
This track was released in 2004 on the album Inpendum.
A strong element in this track is the overall mood. This is definitely heard through the vocals. You get that feeling of being spent throughout the track. This is appropriate given that this is basically break up music.
The lyrics are definitely a bit cryptic at first, but after a listen or two, the meaning is quite clear throughout the track. So, decently well done lyrics.
The synth throughout worked quite well. the transition to the solo could have been a little smoother, but that didn’t really detract from the overall sound that much.
The pads definitely worked well for solidifying the audio atmosphere.
Overall, I thought this was a great track. The lyrics worked well, the vocals were great, the synth was well done, and everything was nicely balanced. There was one slightly off transition from vocal to synth solo, but that was a minor nitpick for me. A recommended listen.
