This review covers the synth-pop track Code 64 – Deviant.
This track was released in 2010 on the album Trialogue. Earlier, we reviewed their track Accelerate and gave it a great score.
The track starts with ambient elements before going into a more four to the floor beat. The track does feature a pretty good bassline that is layered with an interesting melody towards the beginning.
This track contains vocoded vocals along with some interesting vocals. It has a bit of a punk rock quality to it. The vocal portions also contain a decent synth melody.
The lyrics were not that bad. They had some pretty good creative elements in it.
The ending contains a nice bit-crushed filter that gradually takes the track down after.
The only thing with this track is that while the track does tick all the boxes for me in what makes a good track, I can’t say there was much that took it to the next level necessarily. It was a good track, but not something I would jump up and down and call great. I would have liked to have heard something that would make this track exceptional. I never really heard that.
In spite of this, I would say that this was a pretty good track. It had interesting vocals, good vocoding, a pretty good bassline, and an interesting filter. Worth listening to.
