Review: Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge (Rock)

This review covers the alternative rock track red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge.

This track was released in 1992 as part of a single.

The track starts off with some acoustic guitars. When that ends, the vocals start with some minor backing of the guitar. After a brief pause with the vocals, they continue on with the verse.

After another brief instrumental section, the vocals go into the main chorus. This generally has higher notes. This is capped off with a brief instrumental section.

From there, the vocals go into the verse. After a brief instrumental section, the vocals go into the main chorus. At the end of it, the drum kit becomes a bit more prominent while the vocals extend the main chorus.

In the next section, there is some very odd backup vocals that are pretty much inaudible. After that, the track breaks down with the guitars leading the track out.

The biggest strength of this track is the main vocals. They do add some sense of variety throughout the track. Overall, they were decent, but nothing huge.

The next big strength is the transitions. This track does allow for making each section rather distinct.

The guitars, meanwhile, are pretty bland. I’m fine with acoustic guitar elements, but there really isn’t much making the ones present here interesting. I was hoping for something to either make them interesting or some interesting backing element. Neither of which really happens.

The backup vocals that appear at the end are just odd. Not only do they hit some very bizarre notes, but they also are nearly completely unintelligible. This element just falls flat to me.

Overall, this is a pretty bland track. The vocals are decent and the flow is OK. Beyond that, it’s hard to find anything exciting or interesting in this track. The backup vocals are just plain odd and don’t really work. As a result, a track to skip over.
