We now take a look at what we’ve added to the Wiki over the last month. This is for the month of August.
It honestly feels like time is stuck on fast forward these days. It seemed like almost yesterday that we published last month’s Wiki content patch. In those patch notes, we commented how we got the legwork done for the next show, Group Therapy. It involved a rather sizable adjustment with the link structure after a shortcut wound up being, well, less than a shortcut. Fortunately, it was something we have never done since.
This month was definitely a tougher one. Obviously, I didn’t get sick for a week and couldn’t work on the site full time again, so, it’s probably not a surprise that I didn’t get quite as much done as last month. Still, that’s probably for the best, because, honestly, who wants to be sick in the first place?
Still, a fair amount did get done this month. First of all, the index page for Group Therapy has been completed. What’s more is that I am keeping up with the latest episodes starting with episode 492. With the latest round of updating, the newest episodes has been completed all the way up to episode 496.
Of course, just adding the latest episodes is, honestly, the easy part by comparison. The hard part is filling in all the back episodes up to this point. For those of you who know the history of this show, Group Therapy started where Trance Around The World left off. In fact, the very last episode, Trance Around The World 450 is also the same episode as Group Therapy 001. This provided a bit of a funky challenge for archiving.
A big reason for why this was awkward to archive is the fact that it’s bad practice to fully duplicate content between two pages. At the same time, you would need to provide a page for both shows or else the archive is incomplete. So, what would you do in this situation?
For me, the solution was to actually include all the Trance Around The World portions of the show for TATW 450, and all the ABGT 001 for Group Therapy 001. That way, you get a complete picture of the whole event while nicely differentiating the two shows anyway. The good news for me is the fact that this was planned out all the way back when I was archiving Trance Around The World – the first show I’ve ever archived for the site. This month, I was able to execute that second part of the plan all these years later to perfection. It was a really nice sight to see, having such an old plan executed so seamlessly. Obviously, I linked back and forth between the two shows for greater clarity.
With that small hurdle out of the way, I began the process of building the whole archive of Group Therapy. The back archive has been added all the way up to episode 031. With the latest episodes archived as well, this archive already has exactly 72 hours worth of documented music. This spans 36 episodes in all so far. Not bad for a “smaller” update.
Combined with that, I have also updated the archives for Synth City, Future Sound of Egypt, Fables (an error in the description of some episodes has been fixed as well), Resonation, the V Recordings Podcast, and the Random Movement Podcast.
I hope you enjoy the latest additions to the Wiki and look forward to adding even more content in the future!
