Mastodon’s growth continues it’s quick pace of growth after it reached 11 million users. That’s a 1 million user increase in a month.
Last month, Mastodon hit a major milestone of 10 million users. This according to a data tracking account. The growth has exceeded all expectations for many Mastodon users and enthusiasts alike. The only real question is how far will this growth go.
Well, it appears that the network, according to the same data tracker, has hit yet another milestone. On Friday, the user count was pegged at 11 million users:
While the milestone may not be quite as monumental as the 10 million users from last month, it is showing that the networks growth continues to be impressively fast. As of the latest count, the total users is estimated to be at 11,063,662 in all.
By all counts, the overall growth has largely been attributed to Elon Musk and his mismanagement of Twitter. Whether it is mass firing employees, firing people who disagree with him internally, piling on massive amounts of legal liability, the increase in platform instability, or, as we got a fresh reminder recently, implementing mass censorship policies, Twitter has been in a constant state of burning for the last several months.
One thing is certain, it looks like this trend is going to continue for a while yet. As Twitter’s picture continues to get worse and worse, Mastodon’s picture continues to look better and better. With the growing efforts by government to control social media, the continued adoption of decentralized social media could not have come at a better time.
