Welcome to the 163rd instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Playstation 4 game, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

It’s been a long time since I picked up a flight simulator game. I remember playing some on Atari games as well as Pilot Wings 64, but there really hasn’t been much representation on this genre in my mix of games. I’m not even sure I have even showcased a flight simulator game on this channel yet. Well, today, I thought I’d change that by checking out this game.

My skills were probably a little rusty given how long it’s been since I played a game like this, but it felt like I was remembering some of the things from games I played years ago.

I spent much of the video trying to get used to the interface and how things work in this game. I didn’t quite clue in on determining altitude of other planes in the sky as I didn’t really notice anything in the UI telling me they were higher or lower. Since I was getting used to the UI detection system, it took longer to figure out when I should be looking elsewhere in the sky for both friends and foes. Ah well, first stint into this genre in a long time, so it’s hard to have super high expectations on performance.

What did you think of this game? Was this a really interesting diversion from the usual games you’ve played or are these games not really your style?

For those who have played other games in this franchise, but not this one, what did you think of what you saw here? Is this a game you had hoped to play at some point or are you more interested in different games like this?

Also, for those who are, like me, and have no experience in this franchise at all, what did you think of this video? Does this look like an interesting game to play or does what you see make you want to not really bother with this game? Let us know in the comments below!

This video is part of our first impression video series. Below is a list of 50 of the previously made first impression video’s we’ve made in the past:
