This is the 173rd instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time.

Welcome to the 173rd instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Steam game, Mass Effect for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

After checking out the first Mass Effect game, I was definitely interested in seeing what it was like to play the second game. One thing that did stand out to me is that there are some minor changes to how the game plays, but a lot of this game also felt quite familiar as well. I think the big one was changing the use key from “E” to the space bar was by far the most noticeable difference.

Another notable thing that I mentioned in the video is how it is kind of annoying to have to import a character from the first game to the second. You’d think this sort of thing would be much more automatic, but apparently, you have to dig deep into various directory files just to access the utility, then make an equally deep dive to find the save data on top of it all. While possible, it is certainly more on the annoying side of things.

Still, this is a game I have been looking forward to playing for a while. This thanks to having such a positive experience with the first game.

Anyway, I wanted to hear from you. For those who have played this game, what did you think of this one? Was this a great entry into the Mass Effect series or did you find it to be a bit of a let down for some reason?

For those who haven’t played this game, but other games in the franchise, what did you think of what you saw here? Does this look like a game with familiar mechanics and something you’d be in to or does the games age make you reconsider playing this title?

Also, for those who haven’t played any of these games at all, what did you think of what you saw? Does this look like a game you’d be open to trying or does the concept of blending RPG elements into a shooter game strike you as a non-starter? Let us know in the comments below!
