Merry Christmas from Freezenet!

With all the news that is happening, we here at Freezenet wanted to take the time to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

It is now Christmas day. Typically, this is a time to spend with family, relax, and reflect on all the great things that has happened over the year. Of course, these are not typical times. Between the Omicron variant spreading, the increasing hostility by government towards the open Internet, reminders about what the government can do better, yet chooses not to, chaos in institutions that was once held in high regard, and so much more, it can be hard to really appreciate what is so great about this year. This is especially true when you work in the media where all you seem to see is chaos and disaster.

Still, it is possible to dig around and find glimmers of hope. Some research suggests that maybe the new COVID-19 variant might drop out as quickly as it came roaring in. We have a fairly robust Internet infrastructure that allows us to connect to one another despite the pandemic. Ordering online helped with the stress of Christmas shopping (well, most of the time anyway). HTTPS is now more ubiquitous than ever before, contributing to a safer web browsing experience for all. Companies that make a profit from black hat hacking are increasingly being held accountable for their actions.

For us, we have been able to continue to make progress on building a Wiki which means more content than ever is more easily accessible to you with less research being required. Last month, we saw Freezenet have a profitable month for the first time. Earlier this month, we posted out 40th video on YouTube. This month, we posted our 37th podcast (which is a big number when you consider this is a monthly podcast). Earlier this year, we managed to get over 450 listens to our podcast as well. Our YouTube channel has accumulated over 300 watches. What’s more is that Freezenet has become the 2nd most popular site in my home town again, beating out a number of local monopolies in the process.

With so much positive signs coming in from you, we continue to be more motivated than ever to keep building up this site – to keep making this site better. As mentioned in earlier posts in our Patreon page, we will be announcing some big things for our YouTube channel next month. Stay tuned to our channel for more details.

As always, we will continue to add to our Wiki pages since the reception seems to be generally positive so far. We can’t wait to see what happens when we add more episodes, more shows, and more kinds of music to our open research pages. As our site continues to grow, we hope to see more successful months in the future as well.

While this years Christmas wasn’t what we all had hoped, it is possible to dig through and find something positive. We all hope that next year, things will get better. Despite it all, we hope Christmas was a good one. Merry Christmas everyone and happy New Year!
