Review: Art of Trance – Gloria (Transparent Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the trance track Art of Trance – Gloria (Transparent Mix).

This track was released in 1993 as part of a single.

The track starts with a bassline that is not too dissimilar to that of a psytrance track. This is joined by a voice sample. A kick then comes in. A reverse cymbal comes in and some synth strings come in. A synth effect also comes in along with a few other beeps. Additional effects also come in.

From there, an arpeggio synth comes in. Some elements then drop out, leaving the arpeggio synth more exposed. This synth then changes up for a bit before going away. This is replaced with some of the synth effect and a voice sample. What follows after is a piano element. The bassline comes in and some synth effects continue on.

A brief drop hits with the voice sample. This leads to a section with the bassline and drum kit. Some synth string comes in again. Additional synth string notes come in after a few effects. The voice sample also makes a return.

After a while, several elements drop out before the voice sample continues to make a presence. The piano element makes a return as well. After a while, several elements then come back in. This section ends with a very brief piano solo.

The drum kit then makes a return along with the bassline. The synth string also makes a return. The synth strings change notes as the synth effects continue to make an appearance. The arpeggio makes a return.

After that, several elements leave with just the bassline, drum kit, and voice sample staying. The piano makes a return. Several elements then make a return. A few elements then fade out. After that, a synth effect leads the track out.

There are a lot of similarities this track shares with your standard psytrance tracks. Interestingly enough, that ultimately ends up making this track a very good listen. I like it when tracks start to blur the genre lines.

The bassline works quite well. I also like the piano sections. The voice sample also works quite well. In addition this this, I thought the way the track was laid out was quite nicely done.

Overall, this is a very solid track. It has a lot of great elements going for it. The eclectic nature of this track also winds up being a great strength here. So, generally speaking, this is definitely a good one to listen to.
