Review: Chakra – Home (Above & Beyond Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Chakra – Home (Above & Beyond Mix).

This track was released in 2000 as part of a single.

The track starts with a reverse cymbal. The kick then comes in followed shortly by a clap. A bassline then quickly enters the track. A sweep is added. The snare roll then hits before a synth enters the track. A second synth joins the track.

A drop hits with a sliding bass note. The rest of the track drops out. After that, a synth pad and another synth takes over. A few effects come in. A reverse cymbal hits with a cheering sample in the background. The synth melody then builds up.

After that, the vocals make an appearance. A snare roll enters the track before the drum kit and main synths take over. The vocals also contain a stutter effect. Parts of the track then drop back, leaving a few synths and the drum kit.

A part of the vocal then takes over for a moment. After that, an instrumental section follows. From there, the piece of vocal returns before it starts to take over. The drum kit then drops out as the synths build the track back up again. A snare roll hits and the drum kit returns. There’s some subtle choir elements backing the track. This main section of the track continues for a bit.

After that, the track starts to break down. A number of synths drop out, leaving mostly the drum kit, bassline, and an effect. More synths gradually drop out along with a few elements of the drum kit. Eventually, just parts of the drum kit and bassline is all that’s left. Then, it’s mostly the kick, bassline, and one effect. A reverse cymbal makes an appearance and a synth effect leads the track out.

A major plus in this track is definitely the vocal. This really gives this track a lot of life. It’s quite enjoyable to hear it in the mix.

Another positive is the synth melodies throughout. They give this track a nice overall sound. It also offsets the vocals quite nicely.

Overall, this is a great track. It’s got nice vocals, synths, and has a well realized overall mood throughout. As a result, it gets a thumbs up from me.
