This review covers the progressive trance track DB Boulevard – Point of View (Lange Remix).
This track was released in 2001 as a single.
The track starts with a reverse cymbal. A bassline follows. The kick then gradually fades in with the lead hat joining the track. Other parts of the drum kit join the track. A clap then joins the track. A synth effect makes an appearance. A cymbal makes an appearance and the synth effect makes another appearance. After another appearance of the synth effect, other synths make an appearance.
With a heavy reverb filtered vocal sample, the main vocals join the track with the main chorus. The drum kit fills out after and a synth pad joins the track. From there, the vocals then hit a non-vocal section. That reverberating vocal sample makes an additional appearance underneath all of this.
The drop then hits, leaving a synth melody behind. A synth pad joins the track in a subtle manner. The reverberated voice sample returns for a moment. The main vocals then hits the main chorus before they go through a verse. A kick and high hat follows. A bassline then gradually fades in. Parts of the drum kit return. After a snare roll, the rest of the drum kit returns in full. The main synth melody is layered over top of this.
The vocals then return for another non-lyrical section. The reverberated voice sample is also layered over this portion. From there, the vocals hit a main chorus again with parts of the drum kit dropping out. The kick then returns as the vocals repeat a verse. Then, the non-lyrical section returns again. The main synth melody is also present in this section.
Parts of the track then drops out. After a moment of just a synth, the drum kit, synths, and bassline return. Some of the synths gradually fade out. After a cymbal, other parts of the track drop out including parts of the drum kit. A hat and a synth then leads the track out.
For me, the first thing that I notice about the track is the vocals. Whether they are belting out a verse or a chorus, they are an excellent thing to listen to. Those non-lyrical sections work incredibly well. As an added bonus, the effects that were applied in a subtle manner helps elevate those vocals very nicely. For me, they were a real treat to listen to.
The main synth melodies also work very well. I found them to be both enjoyable and work well with the vocals. That’s a careful balance to strike and that balance works out very nicely.
I also like how well constructed this track is. It manages to get a very nice flow throughout and retains that great sense of quality whether there is not much going on or going full throttle.
Overall, this is a great track. It’s got excellent vocals, great synth melodies, and an overall very high production value. So, definitely a recommended track worth listening to. Two thumbs up from me.
