Review: Eiffel 65 – Lucky (In My Life) (Pop)

This review covers the dance pop track Eiffel 65 – Lucky (In My Life).

This track was released in 2001 on the album Contact!

The track starts with some synth strings. The vocals then enter the track with the main chorus. From there, the drumkit joins the track as the main chorus is repeat.

The bassline then joins the track as the main chorus is repeated one more time. After that, the vocals has a layer of vocoding added to it. After that, the vocals take the track into a verse.

Shortly after another short moment of vocoding, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. Another synth string joins the track. This is capped off with more vocoded vocals. When that ends, synth strings continue on.

The vocals then return with backup vocals going through the main chorus. After that, the backup vocals drop out for a bridge. Shortly after, the vocals return to normal as they repeat the main chorus. The vocals are then vocoded for a round in the main chorus. The track then ends with an effect.

One thing I can appreciate about the track is that it’s not only upbeat, but it also follows along a more specific theme of gratefulness. This is not something I actually come across in music that often. So, I definitely appreciate that sense of creativity here.

Another thing is the vocals sound pretty good. The vocoded section adds a bit of variety, but all the important parts are nicely articulated.

My only problem is that the lyrics rely quite heavily on the main chorus. There’s not much in terms of verses, but the main chorus largely repeats a few lines. So, I think the lyrics could have had more meat on them.

Overall, though, this is a pretty solid track. The themes actually have that edge of uniqueness. The overall sound works quite well. Wished there was a bit more to the lyrics, but otherwise, it’s pretty good.

Score
7/10
