Review: Ferry Corsten – Punk (Vocal Extended) (Trance)

This review covers the trance track Ferry Corsten – Punk (Vocal Extended).

This track was released in 2002 along with the Kid Vicious Remix.

The track starts with a kick and a consistent bassline. A high hat and another element is added. A synth is then added. An effect is then added and is joined by a few others. The filtering in the bassline has some automated filtering.

From there, a second synth joins the track to provide melody. An added high hat is inserted into the track. The consistent bassline then returns to the track and is backed by a synth effect. Filtering is then applied to the bassline. This is followed up by an effect or two. A filtered voice sample then enters the track. The filtering is gradually pulled off. There is then more emphasis on the snare and clap.

Elements drop out for a moment before the bassline melody continues. A synth element is re-added to the track. A sweep then makes an appearance before the voice sample returns. Some of those synth effects return for a moment. A snare roll then makes an appearance in the track.

After that, the voice sample drops out and is replaced by the bassline melody. One of the synth effects returns to the track. A sweep makes an appearance and the bassline goes back to being consistent. The bassline then has the resonance temporarily removed. A sweep makes an appearance and leads the track out.

One thing this track has going for it is that the bassline melody is actually quite catchy. It really makes this track sound quite good.

The voice sample also helps give this track a nice presence throughout. It even adds a bit of personality to the track which is nice to hear.

Another aspect of this track is the fact that it has a much more dirty sound to it which ends up working quite well for the track. It plays well with the themes present in the track.

Overall, this is a very solid track. It has a great bassline and some great personality with the voice sample. The grimy sound also works in this tracks favour. So, an overall very solid track that’s worth listening to.
