This review covers the rock track Foo fighters – All My Life.
This track was released in 2002 on the album One By One.
The track starts with a guitar. The main vocals come in. Shortly after, the lead guitars join the track along with the drum kit. The vocals drop out.
From there, the lead guitars drop back a bit and the vocals join the track for a verse. The half whisper vocals make a brief appearance before the vocals hit the main chorus.
After that, the track goes into the main chorus. The guitars hit shorter notes at that point. The track then hits the main chorus again. A single guitar continues on. An effect backs the track as the vocals return for another chorus in that half-whisper style. Lead guitars quietly return as the vocals continue onto the bridge.
An instrumental portion continues as the vocals carry on through the rest of the bridge. After that, the main chorus hits again. The vocals extend the main chorus for a moment before the track then cuts out.
For me, this is one of those tracks that have strengths and weaknesses. The strength is definitely the main chorus. Everything comes together quite well whether it is the vocals or the guitars or even the drum kit. Everything came together very nicely in my view.
A weakness in this track is the guitar work in the verses. Sometimes, it is hitting some notes with some very odd lengths. For me, it takes a part of the track that might sound half decent to a track that sounds, well, tolerable, but nothing amazing. It’s kind of odd in a way because they sound great in the main chorus.
Overall, this is a decent track. It has its strengths and weaknesses. The strength is definitely the main chorus where everything comes together nicely. The verses don’t really sound that great, though. So, a decent track all around.
