This review covers the punk rock track Iggy Pop Feat. Sum 41 – Little Know it All.
This track was released in 2003 on the album Skull Ring.
The track starts with a lead guitar. Some feedback comes in and additional lead guitars come in. The drum kit also comes in shortly after the start. The vocals then come in for a verse.
After a brief drum solo, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. Backup vocals from Sum 41 come in as well. This section is capped off with an instrumental section.
From there, the vocals take the track into the next verse with additional backup vocals at the end. From there, the vocals then take the track into part of the next chorus. Part way through, the vocals diverge and modify the main chorus slightly. This is capped off with a guitar solo.
Some vocals come in quietly before the vocals take the track into the next round of the main chorus. The vocals then extend the main chorus with some slight modifications. After that, an instrumental section leads the track out.
The first thing that came to my mind was that the guitars are quite excellent. They add so much to the track such as energy and mood. They are quite excellent here.
Another huge thing is the vocals. They work very well. Even the backup vocals are quite strong here.
The lyrics are both very strong and kind of have a few bumps along the way. A lot of it just adds such an incredible punch to the overall track. It really personifies overcoming adversity and overwhelming odds. The only thing is that the odd lyrics here and there is a bit on the cryptic side, but this is such a minor thing because it doesn’t happen that often.
Overall, this is a great track. It’s got excellent guitar work, great vocals, and a nice concept throughout. The lyrics are strong, though they may get a touch cryptic here and there. Still, this track manages to shine through in a number of different ways. A recommended track.
