This review covers the trance track Iio – Rapture (Tastes So Sweet) (Riva Remix).
This track was released in 2001 as part of a single.
The track starts with a general drum kit. It is joined by a synth for added rhythm. A synth effect joins the track before some added hats enter the track. Parts of the drum kit temporarily drop out before returning. Another synth effect joins the track before a synth melody joins the track. A reverse cymbal appears and parts of the track drop out, leaving a few percussion elements and synths.
The main vocals then join the track. The vocals have a delay effect applied to them. From there, the kick rejoins the track. The rest of the drum kit and some of the synths return as the vocals enter the main chorus. A non-lyrical section then takes over before the vocals drop out completely. The rest of the elements take over after that. The synths then start to fade out for a moment.
After an effect, the vocals rejoin the track for a verse. Many of the elements drop out for a moment as the vocals continue. When the rest of the track returns, the vocals hit the main chorus.
From there, the vocals continue into a verse as parts of the track drop out. A synth then rejoins the track. A synth effect hits as most of the track drops out. The vocals go for another round in the main chorus. Part way through the main chorus, only a synth pad backs those vocals. After that, the rest of the track rejoins the track as the vocals repeats a part of the main chorus. Those vocals then hit a non-lyrical portion. The vocals then drop out as the synth melodies take over.
A synth effect appears and some of the synths drop out. The effect makes another appearance and some of the pads drop out. Parts of the drum kit then drop out, leaving a few elements and a synth. The synth effect makes another appearance and leads the track out.
The firs thing that I notice is the vocals. That really is the big highlight of the whole track. Those vocals work quite well throughout the whole track.
Meanwhile, the backing elements helps elevate the vocals and turns this decent track into a very worthwhile track to listen to. The way the synths play out really helps balance out the vocals nicely.
This is one of those tracks that hits all the right notes, but doesn’t necessarily make this one one of the best tracks I’ve heard necessarily. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very good track. The problem for me is that I’m not sure the synths were enough to help elevate this track into being one of the great tracks I’ve heard. For me, it’s close, but not quite there.
Still, this is a very worthwhile track to listen to. It’s got solid vocals and the synths backing them help elevate this track nicely. It may not be the most amazing thing I’ve heard, but I still highly recommend giving this one a listen. It’s a very solid track all around and gets a thumbs up from me.
