This review covers the pop track Madonna – This Used to Be My Playground.
This track was released in 1992 as part of a single.
The track starts with some chime elements. Some are higher notes and some of them are lower notes. Some string elements come in after that.
The vocals then come in, taking the track straight into the main chorus. From there, the vocals go into the first verse. There is a piano element that accompanies this part.
From there, the vocals go into the main chorus which is much more full than the variation in the intro. They are accompanies by some backup vocals.
At this point, the vocals go straight into the next verse. This is capped off by a violin element coming in. It is generally an instrumental section.
After that, the vocals take the track into another round in the main chorus. A chime element comes in and the track then breaks down and ends.
The mood of this track is quite pronounced. With the lyrics, it is definitely all about looking back to the past. From what angle can be left up to interpretation to some extent.
The instrumental section is pretty decent all around. It does break the track up a fair bit.
Beyond that, there isn’t much here that makes this a particularly exciting, interesting, or inspirational track. On the bright side, there isn’t anything here that I can say is particularly bad about it either.
Overall, this is a decent track. It’s got a nice pronounced mood throughout and the instrumental section is pretty good. Beyond that, there really isn’t much there to get really excited. On the plus side, there is nothing particularly bad or audibly offensive either. So, an overall decent track, but there is better out there.
