Review: Three Drives – Sunset On Ibiza (DJ Enrico Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the trance track Three Drives – Sunset On Ibiza (DJ Enrico Mix).

This track was released in 2001 as a single. It was released along with the (Yves Deruyter Mix).

The track starts off with a drum kit and a synth. A second synth fades in and is joined by a clap. there is a brief small drop. A synth element makes a brief appearance before the vocals make an appearance. The drum kit briefly drops out before the vocals continue. This happens a couple of times.

Eventually, the vocals hit the main chorus. At the end, parts of the track drop out. A few synths, the kick, and high hats remain. Both the kick and high hat gradually fade out. The vocals continue with a delay effect. A synth melody then replaces the vocals.

Parts of the drum kit then returns to the track after a cymbal crash. The clap joins shortly after. The kick then fades in. That kick is then joined by the rest of the drum kit. A few additional synths return to the track. Vocal samples make a subtle appearance in the background. The main synth melody gradually fades out.

After a cymbal crash, the vocals return, switching places with the main synth melody. Those vocals repeat the main chorus. The main chorus is extended before a delay effect takes over. A series of cymbal crashes then makes an appearance and leads the track out.

For me, the first thing that I notice about the track is the vocals. They really help punctuate the track very nicely. What’s more, it’s not just one or two lines that they sing. Lyrics are nicely formed as well. So, I thought that they work very well.

The second thing is the general synths that back the vocals. They really add an interesting ambience to the track overall. So, that works quite nicely.

The main synth melody, however, seems a bit simple for a track like this. It’s just a general arpeggio-like sound. While it does offer some balance with the vocals, it doesn’t really do much to elevate the track as a whole. So, I found them to be a bit disappointing.

Overall, though, this is a very solid track. The vocals work nicely and the ambience it provides is well realized. Was hoping for a bit more from the main synth melody, but it’s still a track worth listening to.
