This review covers the euro house track U96 – Venus In Chains (Video Mix).
This track was released in 1996.
The track starts off with a synth and vocals. An additional melody makes a brief appearance. After that, the drum kit comes in along with a string melody. The vocals take the track into the first verse. This is capped off with an instrumental section.
From there, secondary vocals backed by a choir element come in. After this, the main vocals take the track into the main chorus. The bassline also provides the track some rhythm. This is capped off with an instrumental section.
After that, the secondary vocals take the track into the next verse. A synth melody gradually comes in towards the end. After that, the main vocals take the track into the main chorus. The track then drops out, leaving the vocals and an arpeggio synth melody.
From there, the vocals repeat the main chorus as the track goes back to what it was before. At the end of the vocals, the track more or less ends.
Judging by the title, it looks like the concept is supposed to be different and artful. Unfortunately, the vocals wind up being only about average along with somewhat lacklustre lyrics.
The synths are pretty decent, but nothing overly exciting.
Overall, this ends up being an OK track. The vocals are OK and the synths are pretty average. So, an OK track all around.
