Review: Wolfgang Lohr feat. Sebastian Daws – Whoopsy Daisy (Radio Edit) (House)

This review covers the electro swing track Wolfgang Lohr feat. Sebastian Daws – Whoopsy Daisy (Radio Edit).

This track was released in 2017 as a single along with two other versions. The label also posted the track to YouTube for free streaming.

The track starts with a piano and guitar. After a filtered snare roll, the drum kit takes over with some brass elements along with an additional guitar. Everything except the guitar and piano drops out as the vocals take over for a verse. The rest of the elements return as the vocals take the track into the main chorus. This is capped off with a snare roll and an instrumental section.

The vocals take the track into the next verse with large parts of the track dropped out. There are appearances of the brass elements. After that, the vocals take the track into the next round in the main chorus with the rest of the track returning. This is capped off with an instrumental section. A sample of the vocals make an appearance part way through before the track continues in with the instrumental section.

The vocals then lead the track into the next verse. This is followed by the main chorus again in the same manner. An instrumental section caps of the section with some slight adjustments. A snare roll and the guitar and piano then leads the track out.

For me, the main chorus really is the selling point in this track. It’s just downright catchy the way everything came together.

The next thing that sticks out is the layers of instrumental elements. The way they are mixed and the way they all come together adds so much personality to the track. This is especially so with the beginning with the way the guitar and piano are so nicely layered together. Other instrumental sections throughout the track also works quite well. Another reason to give the track a thumbs up.

Another thing that is a positive is just how much there is in terms of lyrics. There’s a lot of meat in those lyrics which is a nice thing to hear. A lot of track simply stick with just two lines of a main chorus and leave the rest to the instrumental elements. This track is nice and full on that front.

Overall, this is a great track. It’s got a nice amount of lyrics, the vocals work quite well, and the main chorus is very catchy. The instrumental sections and backing elements are nicely layered and give the track a nice amount of personality. So, a great track in my books.

Overall
8/10
