It was a rough 2022, but the Greta Thunberg Andrew Tate story provided quite the laugh, thus ending the year on a punchline.
One of the things Elon Musk did since acquiring Twitter was re-instate user who were so horrible, even Twitter had enough of their shenanigans. This includes various white supremacists, right wing extremists, and Donald Trump (but I repeat myself). Reportedly, one such deplorable individual that was reinstated is Andrew Tate, a man who was a wanted criminal.
Sometime after Tate’s reinstatement, he decided to harass well known climate activist, Greta Thunberg. In a Twitter post, he wrote the following:
Hello @GretaThunberg

This is just the start.

In response, Thunberg posted this tweet:

In response, in a video, he boasted about how he was going to consume pizza and ensure that the boxes are not going to get recycled. He tried to play off that he wasn’t mad about the response, but clearly he was, or else, why make the video in the first place?
Thank you for confirming via your email address that you have a small penis @GretaThunberg
The world was curious.
And I do agree you should get a life ❤️ https://t.co/mHmiKHjDGH pic.twitter.com/SMisajQRcf

The video wound up being a heck of a self-own in the end. Reports indicate that Romanian police have been needing evidence that Tate was back in the country. He had been wanted in relationship with a human trafficking case. The pizza boxes had the Romanian chain restaurant, Jerry’s Pizza. Apparently, that was all the evidence authorities needed to track Tate down. Track him down, they did. The next footage of him was apparently him being hauled away by Romanian police:
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been reportedly arrested by Romanian authorities in human trafficking investigation

According to news.com.au, four people have been arrested in all:
Andrew Tate and his brother have been arrested and led away in cuffs after their luxury Romanian mansion was raided by police.
The divisive influencer, referred to by his fans as ‘Top G’, and his brother Tristan are being quizzed over human trafficking allegations.
Prosecutors have confirmed Andrew and Tristain are among four detained over an ongoing investigation.
“The four suspects … appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost,” prosecutors said, according to a Reuters report.
“They would have gained important sums of money.”
The pair have reportedly been under investigation for the alleged kidnapping of two young women in their villa in the town of Voluntari.
Their home was raided by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism in Bucharest earlier today.
The brothers were issued warrants in relation to forming an organised criminal group, international human trafficking, and rape.
The cherry on top is that shortly after news broke, Thunberg posted a followup:
this is what happens when you don’t recycle your pizza boxes

A couple of memes and other comments were posted in response that were absolutely epic as well:

You took 33 cars off the road with one tweet. Respect.

As a climate activist, you aren't setting a great example by that much burning.

In a year with the destruction of Twitter, the overturning of Roe v Wade, the Canadian media stumping for internet censorship, and the chaos brought on by the foreign funded Freedom Convoy terrorist occupation, and freedom of the press under threat due to Bill C-18, and the California Age Appropriate Design Code Act among other things, there didn’t seem to be much to remember 2022 fondly over. So, at least it contained a heck of a laugh at the end.
