With pretty much every other list completed, we finally wrap things up with the last one: the best music we’ve heard in 2024.
We’ve now counted down pretty much every other list we always do. This leaves us with the top 10 best tracks we’ve heard this year. As alluded to previously, 2024 wound up being a pretty solid year, all things told. A lot of tracks this year wound up getting a thumbs up from us. Of course, it’s one thing to get a thumbs up and quite another getting a great review. That still wound up being somewhat elusive this year. Still, we did get to fill out an entire list this year once again. So, here is the top 10 best track we’ve heard in 2024.
10. Papa Roach – Last Resort
(RIAA)
This year, we start with a track many no doubt heard growing up in the early 2000’s. This mainstream track manages to impress with solid vocals, great guitar work, and an overall nice crisp sound. As such, it manages to clinch a top 10 spot this year.
8/10
9. Linkin Park – Crawling
(RIAA)
Another track from one of the bands legendary albums. This one creatively utilizes the bass guitar as well as the standard high production value this band is known for. With that added layer of psychoanalytical themes, this track also gets a spot in this years top 10 list.
8/10
8. DB Boulevard – Point of View (Lange Remix)
(Commercial)
If you ask many old trance fans about this track, they will either immediately know what you are talking about or immediately recognize this one. This track features great synths and excellent vocals. Probably little surprise a track of this quality would wind up on a list like this.
8/10
7. Wolfgang Lohr feat. Sebastian Daws – Whoopsy Daisy (Radio Edit)
(Commercial/Free Streaming)
If you ever have a chance to rummage through a list of electro swing fan recommendations, this probably pops up as one of those recommendations. This track features great layering of synths, nicely done vocals, and some interesting combinations of sounds. Definitely a great track to say the least.
8/10
6. Ferry Tayle Feat. Poppy – The Way Back Home (Craig Connelly Extended Remix)
(Commercial)
A much more modern track for this years list, this one contains great vocals and some really nice synth work to round out the overall sound. With added bits of extra synth to give this track a nice amount of added quality, this track is hard not to recommend.
8/10
5. Menno de Jong – Ananda (Extended Mix)
(Commercial)
This track is proof that you don’t necessarily need a strong vocal to make it onto these lists. Sometimes, all you need is a great synth melody that is just plain catchy. The voice sample certainly didn’t hurt either. I really could listen to this track for hours and never get bored of it, really. So, into the top 5 it goes.
8/10
4. Darren Porter & Ana Criado – Dream Like I Do (Extended Mix)
(Commercial)
This track impresses with strong and high quality synths and an excellent vocal. The high production value really makes this a highly recommended track. With so much emotion, it’s hard not to like this track.
8/10
3. RedSound, SoundLift, Cathy Burton – Empty Echoing (Extended Mix)
(Commercial)
Another great track with a great deal of emotion behind those vocals. What really sets this track apart isn’t just great synths, but also that sting element just for that added sense of quality. Definitely deserving of a top 3 spot this year.
8/10
2. Exolight & Suncatcher – I’m Always Happy When It’s Raining (Original Mix)
(Commercial)
Sometimes, a trance track with great piano is enough to make it a great one. That’s definitely the case here. Still, with powerful pads, chords, and excellent synths, this track only manages to impress even more. So much emotion embedded into this non-lyrical track. This can very easily be in lists of music you gotta listen to. Such a great track to listen to.
8.5/10
1. Levi Nickerson – Aliens, Say Your Prayers! (Metal Cover Tribute to Duke Nukem 3D)
(Free/Streaming)
Sometimes, the best things in life are free. That truly is the case for this years number one best track we’ve heard all year. I honestly thought that the music for that level in Duke Nukem 3D couldn’t be improved on. I was very wrong. With a mixture of great guitars and even an acoustic element thrown into the mix, this arrangement takes this track to the next level. What a stunningly great track!
9/10
And there you have it! The last of this years top 10 lists ending on the high note of best music we’ve heard all year. We really hope you enjoy this years list. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed making them. Here’s to another great year of discovery!
