This is basically the last game in the entire franchise. While I was more of a vigilante 8 fan, I was always perplexed as to why this franchise doesn’t see regular releases these days. Indeed, while playing previous entries, while I wouldn’t call those games perfect, certainly had their strong points.
So, I went into this game asking myself, was this a case of the main formula being changed in a bad way or was this more of a case of the developers deciding that, for whatever reason, they didn’t want to make any more games in the franchise, leaving the fans high and dry (I’ve seen the latter happen on multiple occasions, so I wasn’t sure which would be the case in this one).
When I went into this game, I quickly got my answer. So much was changed around and many design decisions were made that ended up being real head scratchers. It soon became clear that the franchise ended on a sour note. Disappointing to say the least.
