Want to Support Canadian? Consider Supporting Freezenet

If you are wondering how to support Canadian businesses in these trying times, Freezenet is an excellent choice for a whole variety of reasons.

These days, it seems like the Trump regime is pushing endless waves of inflationary tariffs onto Canada and the rest of the world. Canada, along with Mexico, has been especially hard hit with these tariffs as Trump looks to destroy Canada as a nation and forcefully absorb the nation into the United States.

This has resulted in Canadian’s standing up and pushing to buy Canadian and support Canadian businesses across the board. After all, Canadian’s need to stick together. So, if you are looking to put your hard earned dollars to use to help support Canadian’s, maybe consider supporting Freezenet. We have a Patreon page for longer term support and a Ko-Fi page. For longer term support, support tiers go for as little as around $1 per month which is, honestly, pretty dirt cheap.

So, why consider supporting Freezenet? Well, for one, you are supporting someone who is trying to better inform the world rather than playing partisanship games with reporting the news. I’ve heard it time and time again that if there was a news reporting outlet that is unbiased and sticks with the facts rather than relying on cheap “Both Sides Are Bad” coverage, then they would get support. The ironic thing in all of this is that I point out that I have created one of those outlets. Yet, the complaining party doesn’t support us anyway and, instead, goes on to support a large venture capitalist owned outlet that commits the very journalistic crimes that they long complain about. I don’t get it either, but you’d be surprised at how often I encounter this very scenario.

Another reason to support a site like this is that you are, in fact, helping the little guy. Many larger projects out there are bolstered by the upper class who frequently have a political agenda. Think Jeff Bezos of the Washington Post as an example. These larger outlets generally have a monopoly on insider connections, press conferences, and does a fantastic job at keeping competition at bay. Simply put, competition helps make the market a better place and news is no exception. If you want a competitor who is run by someone who has been doing this for 20 years now to help shake up the market of journalism, Freezenet is probably one of, if not, the best place to start.

A third reason is that as support grows for this site, you’ll be supporting Canadian jobs. I have had a very long track record of success and my content has long been shared on major social media websites out there, pulling in considerable traffic. This is thanks to the high quality coverage I continue to publish to this day. My original plans was that this high quality coverage would eventually land me a profit through ad revenue so I can hire additional Canadian journalists to help cover the news. Unfortunately, between the lowering payouts and fewer sites willing to link to anything other than the largest players in the industry, traffic to Freezenet has been squeezed on all sides rather than bolstered by high quality content. The hopes for the future remain unchanged, but this time, my hope is that the revenue the site generates would go towards freelance and, eventually, permanent full time positions. That can technically happen with your donations. If you want to see more good quality Canadian jobs, this is one way to help make those jobs happen.

A fourth reason is the transparency you get for where your dollars are going. So far, every dollar has gone to server and domain name costs. You can read about this through our transparency reports on Patreon which are published as things change for supporters. Among the top priorities are new hires to help out with journalism tasks, a new hire to support the administration side of things, support for the Freezenet YouTube channels including @YourEraGamer (i.e. eventually obtaining professional video editing software), revenue to go towards advertising to help expand the audience, and a small amount to go towards ensuring server and domain name costs can be paid in advance (ala “rainy day fund”). While I would like to do this sort of thing full time, I’ll continue to do this for free until the site gets financially stable. In case you are wondering, video games and consoles for reviews are paid for out of pocket and doesn’t (currently) go towards the Freezenet balance sheet.

I’ve had big dreams for so long for this site. I’ve put a lot of work into this site for over 10 years now. I like to think that hard work pays off sooner or later and if people start supporting the site, that can happen. I’ve ensured that costs remain low to give Freezenet the best humanly possible chances of success. The roadblocks to success these days keep getting higher and higher, but with your help, you can help Freezenet overcome these roadblocks. Freezenet needs your help and I am asking for that help. Even the smallest amount goes a long way. For example, the Patreon has one subscriber and that one subscriber is shouldering about half of the server costs at the moment. That’s how far your dollar goes around here.

I hope you consider supporting Freezenet. It would mean the world to me. So, check out my Patreon and at least give this site a consideration. Thank you.
